Volodymyr Lytvyn, Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, expects that Elections to the Local Self-Government Bodies will be scheduled for March 2011
"The date of territorial elections is being debated. Apparently, we share the point that it should be held in March 2011", V.Lytvyn stated at the plenary meeting of the Advisory Board on the Local Self-Government held in Livadia Palace (Yalta).
The Head of the Parliament deems necessary "to take every effort to prevent any failures". He calls for drafting a single unified document so that the rules of the election campaign are not altered for the political reasons on the eve of elections.
V.Lytvyn stated that no common resolutions had been passed after the parliamentary hearings. "Hence, the attendants of the today´s sitting of the Advisory Board shall achieve a common decision", he stated.
As it was reported, the attendants of the meeting discuss the state of housing construction in the regions, draft amendments to the Budget and Tax Codes of Ukraine, the Draft Election Code of Ukraine as to the theoretical and practical aspects of organization and holding of the local elections.
